I want to upgrade to 12gb of ram from 3gb. The board i have will support up 12gbs. The only problem is finding ram that will work on my board. all I know is its x58. I can't really find anymore information on it. I was wondering if i should get this http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartsp...66580FA5CA7304 since it says its compatibly or should i go with these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820233146 If anyone has any info on ram compatibly with my crap dell locked down motherboard, that would be nice. I will be upgrading when Ivy bridge comes out. I am getting new case, new mother, new PSU and that's about it.

The vengeance kit or some G.Skill Ripjaws (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231358) are probably your best bet. I'm nearly 100% sure any X58 chispet can handle either of those with no problems(besides adjusting timings and frequency in the bios).

I already ordered it, it should be here tomorrow or Tuesday. Not worried about down clocking just this MSI dell board being able to see the ram, since dell puts their hard ware on lock down. I did update the bios to a new version not given by dell which unlocks it more for after market ram and overclocking. I will find out soon enough, thanks for the feedback.
