best board for the Phenom II 970BE

post #1 of 18

Hello,
I am new to the forums and have a question about what board I should get for the Phenom II 970 BE. I would mostly be using this for gaming. Also, I am on a budget so I would like it if the board was under $150, but I am open to suggestions if the board is a little more expensive.

Ya I was looking at the sabertooth motherboard as it is 149 open box at newegg. I just don't know if I should buy it cause they do not guarantee that all hardware other than the motherboard will be included.

I dont think I would personally get an Open box if it doesn't come with the same gaurantees of a new one.

In terms of AM3 mobos, my current one the Asus M4A89TD Pro/USB3 is very good mid range Mobo and very good value for money.

Looking at the egg in your price range;

Gigabyte UD3
Asrock extreme that was previously mentioned.

Both Great mobos.

yaa i was reading past posts about the phenom black serious chips and what is a good motherboard to use them on, and the M4A89TD Pro/USB3 came up a lot. how do you rate it, overclocking wise?

It's been good to me. good overclocking features and trouble free.. can definitely recommend.

I've bought a sabertooth 990fx that I was going to use when I bought a fx but now thinking I will get a 980be instead.
