There's simply no need for backup media like CD/DVD's anymore, all development can be stored on the companies local fileservers. Then such things as stealing software is far more unlikely to happen.
Well in my case, I cannot download PC game online because here in Canada, we have a law that say that internet distributor have to limit our download. IN my case with 45$ per month we only get 8mb/s and a 50Gb limit per month ...
Only watching video on YouTube can easily beat up that limit.
So that's why physical copy is still important.
