Just not in an amount that justifies buying the 990X.
This is incorrect.

The 2600k is actually less of a "bottleneck" than the 990x...

I just came from that platform with 2x590's//6990's at work and I was able to bottleneck the 990x because it's max OC was @4.5ghz...

In a similar setup at work, I can't bottleneck with a 2600k at 5.0ghz...

So...Yeah but, no...

The 2600k is just an overall faster chip for gaming but, the difference is that in a work environment the 990x can run Quadro like a champ...The 2600k, cannot.

On the same note, I have a hard time bottlenecking a 2600k with 3x580 classifieds at 1000mhz per but, that's for another story time.
