Amd fx 4170?

Thread Starter
Would anyone know when AMD releases the FX 4170?I am curious about buying this chip over the 4100 and everywhere I have browsed it said Q4 2011 or Q1 2012.Also I hope this chip will be much better than the 4100.

The highest I can overclock the 955 would be 3.4ghz.The cpu fan I have is a thermaltake, but its not all that great if I paid 10 dollars for it.I will have to browse around for a better aftermarket cooler.

don't you mean 4.3? umm..the sunbeamtech core-contact freezer 120 is good for AMD..and cheap! (i like cheap)..umm..you would get noticeable gains from OCing and adding an ssd..(non-sandforce)

If this will help, the voltage is set to 1.432 and the multiplier is x 17.0.I'm not too sure what else I can do to get the 955 pass 3.4ghz

You should be able to get your 955 to ~ 4 Ghz without messing with voltages. Try upping the clock first. My board LOVES 249 for a clock speed, not sure why that particular speed works so well, but it does. Try 249x16 once and see how that works. I use that on my 555 24/7 and run at a peppy 3.98Ghz, and I dont heat up hardly at all. I recently built a 955 machine for my dad, and it liked the same #s as my 555(they are the same chip). My best stable OC has been 249x17, which yields somewhere around 4.3 Ghz (stock voltage), but I run hot at that speed with my stock cooler, therefore I run at the more moderate OC for general use.
