Is this little square on a Dell laptop a webcam?

I was wondering if the square under the screen, 7 cm (3") left of the Dell logo, is a webcam? When I start a video call, no video input is there though. But it might be a webcam with no driver installed on the laptop for it?

I believe that is a light sensor to adjust the brightness of the lcd.

if that was a webcam it would be in a really bad spot.

no its not a webcam. I have that as a work laptop and its just a light sensor to detect whether or not the laptop lid is closed.

That little square is the ambient light sensor. The sensor is used to automatically increase or decrease the brightness of the monitor depending on the lighting conditions.
