Does your 2500k do this? (Prime95 and Linpack temps)

IntelBurnTest using 2GB RAM:

Makes my 2500k heat up like hell, as advertised.

Prime95 In-place FFT:

Prime95 was started before the graph starts. As you can see it has hit 65C and then for no apparent reason after 15min rises to 72C. Kind of unexpected.

EDIT: I can say with certainty that if I keep Prime95 running long enough the temps will drop from 72C to 65C again, weird. Could the integrated memory controller have anything to do with this behavior?

Working as intended. Different kinds of calculations generate different heat levels, thats how I understand it. Its perfectly normal.

It's not so much the differing temps between them as the the periodic temp increase and decrease after Prime95 has started. Seems peculiar, almost like something somewhere is switching on and off...

P95 is not one test, it's a series of tests. Some are more demanding than others, and not in linear order. As said above, normal to see different heat levels.

Really? You got that 65C is not the idle temp, right? I don't think I ever saw this elsewhere that's why I'm asking....

They are saying Prime is not the same calculations over and over. It runs a series of different ones(at least it does if set to run that way) and can cause different temps spikes on different tests as it progresses.

For the record I'm using Mersenne's v2.66 64-bit.

Here are 5 cycles of Intelburn standard followed by Prime95 (all 64 bit) on my i5-2500k on stock settings and using 2x4 GB G.Skill Ripjaw ram. I'm using a CM Hyper 212+ cpu cooler.

Earlier I ran through all 4 of the Intelburn stress tests and saw a max of 61*C on core 3. I don't think Prime95 went above 59*C after an hour+ of operation.
