I need some insight!

Hi guys,

I am really interested in playing BF3 from all of the videos and screenshots that I've seen. Now, do I really need to build a new PC to play it? I know my video card is way out-dated. I want to get a 570 but is that even compatible with the P5K since its not 2.0? Also, my Q6600 is at stock. So, should I do some upgrades to my current PC (VGA,HDD,case) or get a new PC altogether? I also heard that a new line of CPUs was coming out in the near future (IVY bridge). If that's true is it worth it to buy a 2500k now?

I think it might be time for your to upgrade to Ivy.

Right now your CPU might be just enough for BF3, but with it being at stock its going to struggle, but your GPU is really going to suffer and make the game almost unplayable.

For an upgrade, probably around $600 (Canadian dollars). I tried assembling a rig that I wanted but it came out to around $1700 after taxes. I just couldn't justify that price for a game.

You upgrade the GPU now. Buying used from somebody on here would save you some cash. I think you could overclock your CPU to 3.4GHz without much trouble, which would give you quite a bit more gaming performance. That could hold you over until Ivy Bridge is released, and give you some time to save up money for the CPU, motherboard, and RAM.

Get a GTX 460 and call it a day. Your CPU is fine.
