If the receiver is HDMI then there is no need to use a sound card. Just use the HDMI out on the video card (if you have it). I'd trust the quality of digital to analog signal conversion of a dedicated receiver over some computer sound card any day.

I run HDMI from my graphics card to my receiver.

I plan on gaming more than anything else, it will be about 75% games and then about 12% videos and 12% music. Is the sound blaster the best card for gaming? (going to be getting bf3, mw3, serious sam3 and crysis 2, all the games I was waiting to get til I had a 580)

bump, anymore ideas? I have looked at the receiver and decided I shouldn't have said no budget, more like I am flexible but don't want to spend thousands. I have found my corsair SP2500's on amazon which I am getting so what sound card should I choose for that considering I will be mostly gaming? SB titanium ?
