RAM compatibilty with motherboards?

Thread Starter
I have a MSI 7543 OC motherboard branded by dell. I have a dell XPS 730x. I just flashed a new BIOS 1.0.6 which i got from a 730x group on facebook. A lot of them have claimed it let them use a wide variety of after market RAM. Now how can i know which RAM brands and timing will work with my motherboard. Is this a risk people take when getting RAM. I have 2 choices i am looking at http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartsp...66580FA5CA7304 and these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820233146 The bios allows for up to 12gb's of ram this has been confirmed as long as its not ecc or buffered. Should i just go with the crucial ram since it says it works with the xps 730x?

The RAM from newegg should be fine. I checked the specs with the motherboard on the Dell website and "Retail 2GB PC3-12800 1600MHz (8-8-8-24 1T @ 1.65v) (Vendor: CORSAIR)" It supports 1600MHz RAM. I mean you can get either one if price is going to have an affect with buying.
