Well, it's been 7 months since I posted in this thread. Silentium has sat in storage (aka my closet) for the bulk of the year. I was finishing a Masters degree and simply didn't have time to "deal with it." (sad, I know. I hang my head in shame.) Well, fast forward to last week when I went to QuakeCon with some friends. The "Bring Your Own Computer (BYOC)" section of the con really lit a fire under me again. This fire was aided by my decision to finally get off my butt and upgrade my computer (I was still running a Q6600). So, part of our trip was a field-trip drive to Fry's Electronics, where I got a fantastic deal on a V1 Asus Sabertooth mobo. After getting home, my friends donated some Ripjaw ram and a loaner CPU, so I'm finally on recent hardware. This year, I plan on purchasing new components to phase out the old GPU and loaner CPU and get a proper build in Silentium. I wand
to bring it to Quakecon next year. At the least, I want to give it the use and love it deserves. Call it my homage to Syrillian.
So, that said, this build will be updated once again. I make no promises on the time frame, but it is active again and Silentium will be out of storage this year.
Love you guys, I feel good to be back around here. Glad to have more free time to get back to component building, folding, and the general tom-foolery I've always made around here.
