How is the RAT 7? - Page 2

RAT7 here...never had a problem with it other than dust getting on the sensor. Quick blast of air fixes it every time.

So you can't turn off mouse acceleration? Besides, I like the ergonomics on the mouse, which is equally important to a good sensor.

My co-worker bought one of these and I hear nothing but complaints from him. He went back to his Razer Deathadder just last week because his RAT7 kept jittering all over the place.

Just clean the sensor and you're done.

I got the DA3.5 and then just CF modded the rubber part.
Stays clean and looks cool.

The RAT series of mice have a number of negatives.

1) The sensor has issues when you pick up the mouse.
2) Malfunctions easily.
3) Way way way way way way way too heavy.
4) Generally speaking an all around bad sensor.

Those negatives there are enough to make it never worth considering.

It has some positives.

1) A lot of buttons (if you need them)
2) Adjustable DPI on the fly (but many mice have this).
3) I guess that precision aim button although it just means you have to relearn things, for me I already have considered changing mouse1 from fire to another key because I prefer to use my small muscles for precise mouse movements and it only interferes with this. I don't view this as a positive at all, but I guess for some folks it could be.
4) Build quality seems pretty good (but it weighs a tonne and I've heard the buttons have long term issues).

I have used the mouse, it's just not any good IMO. Any mouse using the Avago 9500 sensor (Ie: G500, G9x, Steelseries mice) should be avoided as well (the Rat series uses the Phillips Twine Eye series, any mouse using this sensor should be avoided as well if you're doing any FPS gaming) because the sensor has unpredictable acceleration (in the Avago) or flat out doesn't work properly at all (Twin Eye).

R.A.T 7 = AMAZING! lol get it. It takes a bit to get the mouse to how u want it since you can fully customize it and what not. But once u do. its great. Love the dps changer for if im flying i can have a faster mouse and not move my hand too much. Then when im playing on the ground i lower it =)

ive never had issues with the lazer. There is rarely times when dust is on my table and i happen to slide on it messing with the sensor which in that case i just blow on the sensor and its fixed =)

What sensors considered the best for FPS gaming, and what mice use them?

Deathadder 3g & 3.5g, Abyssus.... same sensor really, just different versions. It's an Avago as well (3xxx series though I forget the exact number, there is a reference thread stickied with this information though) Best sensor around though, no question about it. No prediction, no acceleration, extremely high perfect control speed.

People who say the malfunctioning from dust/debris (they assume it's from this I should add, negative acceleration can have a similar effect) isn't that big a deal on this mouse are wrong. I had to "blow out" my RAT7 multiple times a day. It always caused errors in game at some point. This is totally unacceptable when other sensors never suffer this issue (mainly most optical). Laser mice in general are just bad for debris and or other sensor issues. Never buy a mouse using a laser sensor for serious FPS gaming. Just don't do it.

Mice like the Naga make sense for MMO players, but they're terrible for any other reason.

The RAT 7 really is junky crap. I've had one for 6 months now and I can't tell you how much I hate it. The only things that is good about is the weight, and the pinky rest.

Also, the precision aim button broke on me so I opened it up to take and look, and I found that the way they make these buttons is really flimsy and will probably break 10 times out of 10.

It took almost 3 months before my hand stopped cramping from using it.
