i7 2600K Issues with Rage? Multiple BSOD

Thread Starter
I am having an issue with windows blue screen of death (BSOD) crashing after about 1 hour of playing rage. It happens pretty regularly (meaning it happens at around the same amounts of playtime), but it does so before I have a chance to look at the CPU temperature, since after I restart the PC there is no way to look at the cpu temperature history. Here is what I have found out:

GPU: (Zotac gtx 580 3gb x 2)
38 degrees idle
69 degrees load

820 MHz core clock
1640 MHz shader clock
2004 MHz memory clock

CPU: i7 2600K @ 4.6 MHz

Voltage 1.36 for 4.6 MHz
idle temp 34-38 degrees

What I am trying to figure out if my cpu temp is getting too high, and causing the computer to crash. I always thought that windows got the BSOD when it was shutting down to prevent damage, but the temps don't really seem to be that high. I am using the Corsair H70 water cooling setup for the CPU. Is this the correct voltage for running 4.6? I just don't know where to start with this, but its aggravating. I'm aware that Rage had a bunch of pc issues upon release, and I am running the 285.38 drivers that are supposed to be specific for Rage and BF3, soooooo ***?

Your posted temps are fine if you're not exceeeding 70C. But that doesn't mean you're stable , so the issue is probably with a BIOS setting. Sounds like you need to do a stress testing session, your CPU or GPU isn't truly stable.

Things you can do for your CPU: Enable pll over voltage. Increase vcore. Disable vcore throttling. (if you have variable Vcore depending on load, its alot harder to dial in on a setting that is 100% stable). Fiddle with other settings. Then when you're ready to stability test, run prime 95 or linx for 30 minutes straight and see if you get errors. This is the true way to see if you're stabhle or not.

Things for your GPU: Lower GPU clock. Increase GPU voltage. Lower memory speed. etc. Then run Heaven DX11 benchmark for 30 minutes to an hour straight to test for GPU stability.

I changed the settings to Enable PLL overvoltage, and that seemed to help (just got done playing it for well over an hour.) I did a temperature check immediately after playing using CPUID HW, and the CPU highest temps were at 59 degrees. Highest the cards got were at 80 degrees, but that's also running 5760 x 1080 resolution at the highest graphics settings, I'd be surprised if it didn't get a bit warm. Thanks for your help. I'm about to test it on some Battlefield 3........
