EVGA 560 Ti 2gb worth it? - Page 2

wow, so it sounds like if i want a place holder until i get a kepler, to get the 2.0 gb card. i have a feeling that will come in handy for SKYRIM.

only wish now they would announce if the new 560ti's will have over 2 gig of video or only 1.5 which i read

I think 2gb would be great. Mine(1gb) get 97-98% use on bf3 ultra settings. Msaa off. In sli the cards have way higher fps but think are suffering from only 1gb ram. Sli 100+ fps too so if I had 2gb in sli would be perfect

dang, now i really want to pull the trigger on a 560 2gb. but i better wait until they announce the specs for the new 560 ti, maybe they'll end up making one with 2.5 gb or so. someone posted elsewhere that due to how its made, it couldnt have 2.0 but 2.5, so we'll see... if not, looks like i'll get a 560gtx 2gb until i get my kepler.

some might say its a waste of money to buy a card for only 5-8 months, but with how much i game and how much i plan on playing old republic, i'll get my moneys worth

The 6950's will probably perform better than the 560TI due to crossfire scaling being a lot better than SLI scaling

with my name you might think im some nvidia fanboy, but im not. but i love the physix feature and it kills me that it's tied to one stinkin' company. gah! i just want 2 gig at this point as it seems more and more useful, why do they have to have different bells and whistles. i'm sure im just babbling about things said around these parts a billion times already, forgive me, im still a newbie to the boards lol

If I had to choose, I'd definitely take 2gb also. In fact, I already did.

thanks razaice for that tip... looking more and more like what i'll do.

anyone have any idea when we might get specs on the new 560ti? like, say in the past when they announced a card to the press, how long does it usually take until we then find out the specs and release date?

oh yeah, razaice, love the name for your rig man... the war machine, lol awesome

the 560 ti is a fantastic card, and if you are going to SLI (or run higher than 1080p or both) you will need the extra vram.

however, i think the 6950 is a faster card.

well here's what i want...

i'm just running one screen at 1080... i want to get skyrim, old republic, mass effect 3 cranked up when they're out... so i dont know if i need sli, just one good card and that 2 gig would be especially nice for skyrim. i keep hearing about bf3 and rage using more than 1gig, so i have a feeling skyrim might take a big bite too

Im not sure about the specs on those games but have you thought about an msi 570gtx? Im really thinking about switching to one of those, I just wish they had more than 1.3GB of memory, they need to start making gpu's with memory slots like motherboards lol. I actually have my 560ti for sale to see if I get a decent amount, and once that sells I will return the other i recently bought to newegg and eat the restock fee, I will be trading up to a 570 just for the extra memory, its less gpu power than the 560ti sli but the extra memory is what i need most, I toy with the idea of a 560ti 2GB but its eventually not going to be enough power on the gpu side, SLI 2GB cards would be ideal, but then your spending more than a 3GB 580gtx. Therefore its just a mess for making a decent choice lol. 570gtx seems like the best in the middle zone for me.

Seriously though, I loved my 1gb msi 560ti, did crysis on ultra no problem, very smooth. Then I got another exact card to sli for BF3, what I found is one card does as good as 2 on that game, people say its an EA issue or driver issues with sli, but seriously im nearly at 100% memory use and with ultra everything the cards cant hang, the msaa needs to be off to play perfect in sli, on one card same but on the edge, its butter smooth 90% of the time with one card, my fps are high with sli but i will get random drops that cause a quick freeze with msaa on, I really think its not enough memory. 2Gb i think is a must, one person with 570gtx in sli tried BF3 with one 570 and said it was smooth, memory use was 1050MB or something, so eventually 1.3GB wont be enough but good enough for now.

Im kinda rambling but at the end of the day whatever you get, as long as its more than 1Gb your good, and physx in BF3 is amazing, so nvidia is a must. 560ti has the gpu power to get by and with 2Gb you will be happy, but the gpu power is just getting you by at this time, if you can the 570gtx would be a good balance from what their users tell me.
