wifi crashing when two users hit the web

netgear WNDR3700

If I'm the only person connected to the wifi router I don't have any issues.

The minute someone else tries to access the web, we both lose our web connection, but Google Talk will still work. And, today I noticed my Pandora connection doesn't disconnect.

After a few minutes, everything starts to work how it should.

Check your DHCP users limit, make it one more than how many people will connect.

what i did.
enabled DHCP on the router.

Have you considered flashing that router with dd-wrt firmware? I have the netgear 3500L with several pc's and lappy's (wireless) hitting the web without a problem.
However i do get a little slowdown with large download's.

I like it whenever someone come up with this suggestion. I was sceptical at first with my WRT160N, but everyone in my family got so frustrated, i was like, HELL, if i lose 100bucks, i will lose 100 bucks learning something.

And now i overclock that damn thing using ddwrt and my internets is blazings fastestest.

Wont help to reserve IP's unless you are running static on each machine. The reason i say this is because say you have two devices turned off, and they dont get turned back on in the same order, the 'second' device will grab an IP first.

Also, this would suck should you ever take your machine out of the house till you remember to turn it back to dynamic IP

All else fails, switch to Linksys, ive never had any problems with that brand and i do own a Netgear that i use for emergencies or at a friends house once in a while.
