X-Fi crackling when using SLI - Page 4

@ OP. It could be because the soundcard is getting to hot. When I was running my 465 passively it would heat up my soundcard and cause static or what you describe as "crackling".

That's what I thought at first when it was in the 1x slot above the GPU slot so I moved it down to the last slot where it had two vornado fans pointing at it (i was trying some custom cooling lol) and it didn't have quite as much crackling, but it was definitely still unacceptable. So it wouldn't surprise me if heat played some sort of role.

Hmm could be something defective with your card since I have 2 470's in sli with my HD in between the 2.

Not likely. I used three different types. USB X-Fi, Auzen Forte X-Fi and Titanium HD.

Might be the motherboard then.

You may be right. I do need to get a new motherboard.

I can confirm it's not the heat. My tower sits in front of my window AC that blasts cold air into it 24/7. Idle CPU/GPU temps are ~20°C, max load temps reach ~60°C.
