Tenkeyless means no number pad.

You should really check out the Mechanical Keyboard guide here http://www.overclock.net/keyboards/4...ard-guide.html It'll help you decide of type of switch and if you really want a mechanical keyboard.

Most everyone will recommend you try a mechanical keyboard, me included after going from a rubber dome to mech keyboard.

Check www.elitekeyboards.com for a pretty good selection of high quality mechanical keyboard.

Also the back light and volume control aren't standard on many mechanical keyboards but the Black Widow Ultimate by Razer has what you're looking for.

Do your hands a favor and invest in a Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX Brown's. There is a lot of debate around which mechanical switch is the best but the general consensus is that the MX Brown's offer the best comfort and are the middle grounds for Typing/Gaming. As for which you should get, check out the Filco's, they are VERY high quality boards with plates on the bottom to stop the switches from "pinging".

As far as the volume control i can either get that griffin thing or use an app on my iPhone or something... so that should give me a few more options.
Reading the guide now, and checking elitekeyboards website.

Check out the WASD Semi-Custom Keyboard V1.

It has a number-pad and since you don't like Tenkeyless (TKL, has no number pad), I think it would be a good fit. All I've seen the reviews I've seen from their keyboards have been great, especially regarding their customer service.

You should also check out their custom keyboards. Those are slightly more pricey, but they are customizable after all.

I'm stuck between getting a WASD Custom V1 or a Leopold TKL with MX Reds and WASD Custom-keycaps.

The noppoo choc mini has volume control through Fn combos and is easily available through ebay in quite a few different switch types. They are under $100 most of the time and an all around good keyboard.

Edit: I just read through Phaedrus beat me to it. =P

Unfortunately no, it isn't officially retailed outside of Asia. Heck, you have it easy; until a couple months ago you could only get it by going through an agent to get it from Taobao (Chinese ebay).

Yeah a lot of people say that but I've owned mine for over 6 months and pinging was never a problem. There is a reason why Filco's have a plate in the first place, other companies don't even have plates on their's because it's cheaper (Poker or Ducky forgot which one). Anyways, I don't want to be giving out misinformation but it's true that Filco's have a plate and it's to reduce pinging.

Get a keyboard without a plate and pinging will be an issue, get a keyboard with the plate, it won't be a big deal. General consensus.
