Had to reinstall Windows... don't want to happen again

Thread Starter
Last time I tried to overclock my i7-2600K's turbo mode to 4.2, I couldn't boot into Windows. I tried a CMOS reset, also reset the BIOS to the optimized defaults. When I tried starting windows again, it said that it could be started, and I should run system repair (whatever it's called). I did so, it said the disk could not be repaired. I lost everything on my main drive, and I don't want it to happen again.

Did I do something wrong, what would have caused this?

I don't think it should do that... A failed OC is one thing but it definitely shouldn't erase your boot drive. When you reset the bios settings did it change the mode from ahci to ide or something similar? Maybe you missed just one check box or something which caused Windows to not boot properly.
