I could not resist and Yes, you are correct. I should not be posting in this thread since I have neither BD or SB.
However, some of this is hilarious and making my day.

I'm preparing for a new rig sometime after 1st of the year or so. Consequently, I am 'keeping an eye out' to see and learn if anyone is moving from SB to BD [???] and see what AMD does vs. Intel. [Appears based on solid, scientific facts that Intel has a big leg-up on AMD right now and near-term, but what do I know?]

Once again sorry for posting where I should not, but it made my day.....
Best regards to all!!!
I did learn quite a bit from this thread and not merely the 'fun stuff'!

Just depends if you either want to believe everything you read based off benchmarks or if you want to hear end user experience with both processors and see the difference in real world performance.

That's the purpose of this thread, to get end user experience with both processors from people that use them every day.

PEOPLE THAT REVIEW THESE PROCESSORS ON THE REVIEW SITES HAVE USED BOTH PROCESSORS AND THEY GIVE THEIR OPINIONS BASED UPON WHAT THEY HAVE SEEN. WHY DON'T YOU REALIZE THIS?

Registered just to come in here and say a few things.

First, why are you Intel fanboys so rabid? For a forum that calls itself overclock.net, you sure love to buy CPUs where overclocking simply involves changing a multiplier. If you were half way intelligent, you'd know that people buy BD because it renders better than an i7 920 and it's a lot more fun to overclock.

I know BD and Piledriver are probably going to be slower than Intel, but buying an Intel isn't going to be as fun to overclock. Overclocking is a lot of fun, and Intel is ruining the art of overclocking by making it overly simplistic and limiting your choices when it comes to overclocking.

In my eyes, AMD has a good product. It might not be faster, but it's a hell of a lot more fun to play with.

This forum is more like "scrubby ******s who think they know hardware and can overclock because they can change mulitpliers."

So yeah, I suppose I'll add overclock.net to my ****hole hardware forum list to troll occasionally. I thought [H] was full of fanboy ****tards but this place is just as good, if not better.

...

You do realize most of the benchmarks reviewing sites use are real world applications therefore based on real world performance?

Every benchmark I've seen always does have a synthetic section, but that's limited to 1 or 2 pages out of a total of around 15. They then move on to real world performance such as video encoding, audio encoding, gaming, etc where Bulldozer underperforms most of the time. How the hell is that not real world performance?

You are refusing to listen to reason. So just buy a Bulldozer since you've already made up your mind. This thread is 16 pages long of 98% of the posters here already saying what I just said.

First off if you read the first post when did I ever say I was trying to decide between SB or BD?

Secondly, what your saying is that an end user won't have a different experience than a review site?

We both know that's wrong. Often review sites get ES samples, not the retail chips that end users will get. The retail chips might oc higher, or oc lower than the ES samples.

Performance can even vary ever so slightly from an ES to a retail chip.

Review sites might also have a small windows to play with the processors as well, where as an end user might be using bulldozer all the time.

I think you probably get it by now. This thread isn't about me deciding what chip to buy, it never was.

From what I've seen with El Gappo's results, the scaling of clocks isn't very good (or of cores, because he is OC'ing eight cores, whereas SB only has four). Even at 5GHz+ (his chip died) it still trading blows with the i5-2500k in everything multithreaded. In single thread performance it is still horribly slow.

There has been nothing from user reviews, or their results, that suggests the review sites results aren't legit or representative of bulldozer performance.
