Anybody switch or upgrade from Sandy Bridge to Bulldozer? Thoughts? - Page 6

You'd save a few bucks but lose quite a lot of performance. It's a downgrade and not at all logical.

He's obviously aware that on a monitor you can't tell the difference. He's refuting your statement that the eye cannot tell the difference, which is factually incorrect. Maybe you were referring to fps on video games but what you actually wrote was wrong.
Actually what I wrote was a response to ballathefeared...who was referring to...read back, you'll get it.

Wow, you really don't get it do you? What you actually wrote was wrong. Doesn't matter who you were responding to, or what your context was. That's what he was saying. By the way, just love the smarter than you attitude, really makes you look intelligent.

What exactly do you mean by real world performance?

Maybe if you're watching a film. But assuming you're talking about games - not only are you watching those, you're interacting with it.

I "feel" a difference with high framerates, however i'm actually quite comfortable with 35+ FPS.

I also wouldn't think it's fanboyish to prefer a superior product...I'd immediately jump to AMD if they produced superior processors.

AMD's FX was a massive disappointment. I was rooting for them and they royally screwed up. Consumers need competition in a market to get good prices and innovative products.

It's disheartening when people look for answers on google...they find the answer they are looking for...and pass it off as the end all be all. You are as guilty for supporting this guy...maybe even worse.

I can tell the difference between over 60, and not 60.

The point I was trying to make is that while the FX, and even Phenom II are capable of getting average fps in the 60's or higher, that doesn't mean their mins will be high enough to go unnoticed. Nor does it infer that you will be able to sustain 60fps averages in all games.

If I spent $520~ on gpu's, and $220 on a cpu, this is not the result I'd want to see (fx 8120 @ 4.5GHz).

AMD cards dominate Fermi in Crysis 1 (texture bench), but even so my 470's are 33% faster than 6950 CF in Crysis, because the user chose a $220 FX 8120 over a $215 (or $179) i5-2500k.

It's not only about real world performance, it's also about getting your monies worth out of your setup, even if that requires you exceed the refresh rate in today's, or yesterday's games. At the end of the day if you're purchasing a new system you probably want it to be more than capable of running today's, and yesterday's games, not just "adequate".

I work in the video and media production industry so when I tell you that regardless of his source he is absolutely right, I know what I'm talking about. Oh, and are you familiar with the term "red herring"? If you're so skeptical of his facts maybe you should do a bit of research yourself and show some sources. Since you're so critical of google I guess you should go to a library.

Thread has been de-railed, an answer was given from a user that went from an i7 to bulldozer and for day-to-day use he said nothing had changed as far as cpu performance goes. OP is not listening to anybody and I believe is trolling.
