Screen shifting problem with BF3.

I have:
Win 7 64bit
HD6950 1GB with 11.10 Preview 3
VG236HE @ 120Hz.

During Battlefield 3 the screen would randomly shift like the image below. The screen remained shifted even after I quit to desktop. The only way to fix it is to reconnect the DVI cable. This only happens in BF3 since I can browse the web all day and never run into this problem. I tried 11.9, 11.10 Preview 1-3 and I've been having this problem since BF3 Beta. I don't think this is my monitor because restarting the monitor doesn't solve the problem, only reconnecting the DVI cable. You guys think it might be the dual link cable or that it's not playing nice with 120hz mode?

What happens when you press alt+enter?

I read it can happen when you overclock the memory too far.

I had it at 1525Mhz and it was stable for other games. I reduced it to 1475Mhz and it didn't help. I guess I'll reduce the memory to stock and see what happens. The GPU core is watercooled while the memories are cooled with a 92mm fan and RAM heatsinks.

The weird thing is that the shift is still there after I quit the game...

Also SAAB ftw, I got a 2002 9-5 V6, although it's giving problems right now.

The V6 is a problem engine, i've got a 9-5 2.3t. wink.gif

Hello guys,

Im having the exact same problem with my Sapphire Radeon 6950 Dirt 3 edition, my screen just splits in 2 and when I quit Battlefield 3 its still there maybe after 5 minutes it goes back to normal.

I have my 6950 unlocked to a 6970 with 880/1375 clocks and 1150 gpu voltage. What could be the problem I see many people having their Dirt 3 edition card unlocked and succesfully can run these clocks without weird artifacts or bugs like this!

Put it back to 6950 specs, if the problem goes away then you know your problem. Unfortunately not all cards are equal, theres no guarantee your card can run safely at those specs. You could also try downclocking the memory only, and keep the core clock up and see if that fixes.

I had this same problem but never determined if it was a driver issue or overclock issue. Has anyone experienced this with stock clocks?
