Regarding the whole "Origin Spyware" thing

Why is Germany the only country taking action right now? There are tons of Bay Area OCN'ers, why don't people drive up to EA HQ in Redwood City and protest?

I'm being totally serious btw. I would have expected something like this to be a gigantic deal right now. Hell if there was a protest at EA HQ I would go, it's only a 20 minute drive from my house.

Dunno what you're on about. EA revised the EULA awhile back and now Origin doesn't 'spy' on your PC anymore. It's as safe as using Steam now.

EDIT: I know for a fact that gamers in Germany are treated in worse than us in Australia. With heavy regulation on gaming, it's a wonder that people in Germany haven't protested earlier when removing content from games becomes commonplace.

this was the only reason why I didn't want to get the game.. when I heard about this I was like... "why would they want to do that?"
I know the game is pretty good but why go about it this way, will MW3 go about it this way too?
Is Origin similar to Steam?
Lots of questions for new ppl that get games on both, and if they don't understand the "risks" if it is even a risk, ppl should speak out about this and the Germans have.
If it'll stick, I don't know, but I feel that this is in fact something someone doesn't want a company to do regardless if they don't use the info or not.

Well, I mean what do you have to hide? Literally, only reason I turn my computer on is one of two things: Gaming and Porns. They want to know about either one, they are more than welcome to. Read your EULA, it will tell you if its okay or not. If they say they can, then don't agree and don't use their program. These debates are silly, because just about everything now days monitors you in some way with cookies or some other tracking device. The only way to not be tracked in some way I think, is to take out your power supply and bury the case 30 feet in a solid carbide fortress.
