Puretrak talent not flat

so I bought this mousepad off ebay (its really hard to get one in europe!) and although its awesome, I can feel some kinda "bumps" on it which is rather annoying. Is it a known problem? any way to make it flat?

Thanks in advance

Yeah I've heard that before. Something about the rubber they use. I believe there was some kind of suggestion somewhere about laying it upside down squishing it with heavy books or other flat heavy objects? Geez I dont really remember any more. Well... free bump at any rate.

I got one from ebay recently too and mine is the same, just feels 'lumpy' in places compared to my QCK or Goliathus - actually really annoys me, might try the book suggestion though thanks Zero!

digging up this old topic...

anyone got results on this? my puretrak has the exact same problem... I was thinking of maybe throwing it in the washing machine hoping that the heat / water will flatten it out, but it would be nice to know if the books did the trick!
i did this with an old generic soft mousepad i had that was "lumpy".

first i took a blowdryer on low heat and applied it to the underside of the mousepad for like 7 minutes (first i tried 5, didnt get the results i wanted)
then i took some wax paper and put it on the underside (the rubber side) of the mousepad after (i did this because i wanted a smooth flat surface before applying weight)
i took a big flat book (to cover the surface area of the mousepad) i had and added a 25lb round weight on top of that to flatten everything down.
make sure you have a good, hard, flat surface to rest it on.
i let it sit overnight
it was much less lumpy the next day, however not 100% "lump free". you might have better luck with a better quality mousepad like the talent, this thing was like a $5 mousepad with the same thickness of my razer goliathus (which i ended up buying shortly after, im actually looking to buy a talent too).

the talent seems much thicker so im not sure how well this method is going to work, maybe use a heavier weight.
i wouldnt throw it in the washing machine but you do need to apply heat to it somehow so thats why i chose the blowdryer.
looking back on it now i should have just tossed it in the oven real quick to get the whole thing nice and toasty..not sure i would do that with a more expensive mousepad.

good luck.

Thanks for your answer.

I'll give this a try and let you know what happens with my puretrak.

However, I have to say I now believe this is simply a problem on the rubber foam making process.

After examining the sides of the rubber base I realized there are some air bubbles much larger than the average - which can easily be seen since they also got cut in half when cutting the whole pad.
These large bubbles create softer areas that give in much easier than the surrounding areas and this can be felt simply by pressing along the edge - when I do this I get the same "bumpy" feeling I get on the pad itself.

For this reason I suspect that is what's causing the bumps / lumps on my pad and if that's the case, nothing will ever fully solve the problem.

Nevertheless I've had some tracking issues with my AM and since others have also reported them I switched back to my previous pad anyway.

I heard of this issue before. I had a similar problem with a Razer Scarab that was raised in the middle. The problem is that you cant exactly just put a book on it overnight to even it out. I tried many things, but was eventually not able to get it straightened out completely. That was my first time trying a hard mousemat, and i ended up just going back to cloth. Cant say the feel of it impressed me anyway and since I dont use laser mice, I am not forced to use one.
