Few SLI 570 questions

Thread Starter
Hey there folks.

I currently own MSI 570 Twin Frozr III card with clock speeds core @ 770 and memory @ 2000 (It is factory OCed)

I get great results +50 fps in BF3.
One setting in ULTRA and rest in high in 1080p resolution

I know that in the coming future there is not any announced game that requires more power from a graphics card so here me out

If i buy another 570 twin Frozr III

1-) Would my FPS be really doubled?

2-) Would this have a great impact in 3Dvision?

3-) Would it be more powerful than a 590 GTX?

4-) Would it be a safe combination for at least 2-3 years?

5-) Would my i5 2500k could handle those 2 cards easily without overclocking it?

6-) Would you go for it yourself?

My other specs are

i5 2500K
8GBram
Asus P8Z68V-LE motherboard
Win 7 64 bit

1-no, but would get 80+
2-yes
3-yes
4-yes
5-no, as a member of ocn, its my duty to tell you to overclock your rig!!
6-for sure

you would need to overclock it or it would be bottle necked and only run at 70%

Thank you for the fast response.

I had little success in OCing my CPU via my Asus motherboard. I am trying to succeed it but fail each time. I am going to be using the Asus Suite 2 now to see if I can OC it via the bios.

I know that my stock runs @ 3.3 mhz and my aim is to take it somewhere @ 4.3 mhz. Would 4.3 be enough?

I hope to succeed it.

I am glad that 570GTX sli setup will be very powerful. I best go for it around New Years time.

overclock the cpu and gpu before deciding on getting another 570.

MY GPU is already overclocked @ 770

I can get it to 790 without fooling around with the voltage.

I really dont want to overclock the GPU and CPU manually.

I just used Asus Suite 2s CPU Auto Tuning function and my new multiplier is 45 instead of 33

I did encounter a few FPS increase in BF3 due to the change.

Guys I am PERFECTLY happy with my setup but i am always wondering IF i should go for it.

Since Skyrim is only Directx9 and Diablo3's graphics will not be as demanding as BF3 i know that i am set for the future but 3Dvision makes me think.

Coming back to SLIing the setup.

Can a noob just install a 2nd card easily or should i take it to the place i built my PC so they can do it for me?

No installing a graphics card is super easy to do.

1. Open up case.
2. Remove rubber blue protectors from card
3. Unscrew pci brackets
4. Insert card into slot, only goes one way which is pretty obvious.
5. Connect SLI connector which is basic and again obvious.
6. Screw everything back in and boot up.

Done. Easy peasy

Thanks Derick...

The thing is when i give the PC to that place I cant take it back for 2 days as they are always busy so i will do it myself.

I am sure when the time is here i will be taking pics of my setup so fellow forum members can help me what to do exactly?

You mentioned an SLI connector. Dit it come with my motherboard? I better go to the attic and check the box if it contains such a device.

I didnt see anything like that in my 570 box i suppose.

Yes we would be more than willing to help whenever you may need it. An sli connector may have come with your motherboard, should have for sure came with your 570. If not hopefully your next 570 will. It's a, generally orange or black Thin ribbon cable.

Hey folks

I was thinking of the 570 sli setup

but than it hit me that i might just wait for 6xx series cards?

Do we know anything about them?

When will they be released etc?

Would you personally go for a 570 sli with my system or just wait for more infor on 6 series?
