Light blue ATX 24 connector

Thread Starter
Hi folks

I'm planning to mod a system with P8H61-I motherboard. ASUS recently started using a light blue coloured ATX 24pin socket on their motherboards. My idea is to use the blue heatshrink and aquamarine sleeving from MDPC, but they only carry black connectors. I checked other vendors but it seems everyone sells either black or UV. I'm unhappy to plug a UV-blue connector into this because they are the wrong shade and I don't want to draw attention to the connector when the case is lighted.

I'm wondering if anyone knows a source for ATX 24pin female connectors with this non-UV light blue colour?

Thanks for any suggestions

Thanks for your response. Graeme from KustomPCs sent me this pic of an Asus board with the UV blue connector and although it doesn't match exactly, it is similar to some of the other connections on the board. Just a pity it's UV.

I also saw an old post about using Rit Dye to colour the plastics used in RC cars. We don't have that in Europe but we have Dylon which was originally intended to dye nylon tights/pantyhose. So I ordered some clear nylon ATX connectors and two different blues ("Kingfisher" and "Madonna Blue") of the dye. If it works, I'll post the results, otherwise I'll let the thread sink

Awesome I hope that works out bud. The other option would be to paint it. Yes it wouldnt be super durable but once placed it would be fine. Interested to see how the dye works.

Thanks, so am I. The dyes arrived next day delivery, but the nylon connectors seem to be lost in the mail

Thread necro wink.gif

I managed to get a blue colour after dyeing these formerly clear nylon Molex Mini-fit Jr. connectors (also known as ATX 24 and EPS 4). I used Dylon multi-purpose #33 Kingfisher and boiled the connectors for 10 minutes with less than half a tin of the dye powder. After 10 minutes I ran the connectors under the cold tap for several minutes. I probably could have used much less dye.

I'm not happy with the colour, but I thought it might be useful or interesting for others to know this is possible.
