i7 2600K + CM Hyper 212+ Voltage

Hey guys,

I just finished OC my 2600K to 4.5 Ghz at 1.385 V.

Now this seems higher than a lot of other people but is it normal for a hyper 212+ cooler. On full load I get a max temp reading of 75 degrees Celsius.

I also played with the BCLK and ghanged it to 100.4 mHz at 1.395V and it passed 6 continous stress tests but windows froze after the last test.

So i'm just asking is that speed decent for my cooler. I see people with 4.5 Ghz using the stock cooler.

Thanks!

From my testing it seems the CM Hyper 212+ can handle about 1.4v Vcore at full load.

People who use 4.5GHz on the stock cooler are probably using much lower Vcore VS yours.

If you need 1.385v Vcore for 4.5GHz you have a pretty bad overclocker. But they will all differ.

I didn't use any software for the overclock. It was all done in my BIOS but yeah.
I tried lowering my Vcore but I just cant get it stable below 1.385. Any tips on how to?

Max temps on full load is 75 so there is a little room for tweaking.

Thanks!

Well, it should require very little tweaking for just 4.5GHz.. I too had a 2500K that needed in the 1.37v Vcore range for 4.5GHz to be Prime95 Blend stable for 12 hours +.. So it's kinda luck of the draw with these CPU's..

Yeah i'm gonna try some different settings.

Im using fixed values which may be one issue as the computer always shows much less voltage. EG, CPUID shows 1.355.

Thanks for your help!

Load it with Prime95 Blend and check Vcore using prgrams like HWiNFO 32/64

I was refering to full load Voltage and not the Vcore you actually select in the bios. Also try using LLC to avoid huge Vdroops.

So I played around with it and managed to get 46 GHZ stable.

But ive set it to 45GHZ @ 1.270V. Changed a lot of things around and now its running fine. Completed 30 mins of stress testing so far without a problem.

The main change I made was go from a fixed voltage to voltage offset. This lowered the voltage noticeable. The temps are now also between 65-70. (I know I can push it a little more but this will do for now until I get better cooling.)

Thought I'd post this for those that might be having a similar issue.
