DLC just means downloadable content. An expansion pack can be DLC. I think you are referring to standalone skin packs or maps packs.

I don't think people have come to the realization that DICE = Infinity Ward and EA = Activision yet.

What can you do? really peopple are so strange, at first they said not enough good maps, now the "packs sux" they ask for money etc, really?

We waited this game like a holy grail, and yes its amazing....well worth the wait, and now when we should enjoy it, you whine about packs which you dont have to buy, do you get the last part of the post? you dont have to buy, BF series are legendary, and even 50$ per pack will get my money, i had my best gaming experience in the last 10 years with BF1942/BF series and just because of that moments, (amazing lan partys etc) they will get my money, no questions ASK, i feel need to pay them in order to "say thanks" for letting me enjoying so much during playing their games.

It's startling to me how many people have a shutupandtakemymoney.png attitude. I guess it's clear to see why DLC is here to stay, and will only continue to get worse in the future. Had people not had that attitude, DLC would have crashed and died already, and we would get proper games from the start.

I like how people delude themselves that they are getting added value to their game, they are literally releasing a quarter of the game for $60 and releasing the rest over time for additional money. It tickles me when devs say we have "day 1 DLC ready" all excited, like fans should be happy. I guess whats surprising is how many morons are actually happy about it.

I see DLC as the old "expansions", some expansions were worth your money, others not.

Same deal with DLC.

as an example, as much as i love dirt 3, i did not buy its DLC because i think its a total rip off, its WAY to expensive, so i did not buy it.

on the other hand if the DLC is worth the price, like lets say BC2: vietnam, id buy it.

do you really think there's anything wrong with that?

the only "bad" thing about DLC is when its overpriced... DLC itslef is not inherently bad.

Yeah, Dirt3 was staggeringly expensive. £17.50 for everything. That was a few cars and a track. I skipped that, appalling value.

don't be such a little girl
value is subjective, I like it, its not mandatory to play the game,
its not mandatory for you to BUY the game in the first place

this is the essence of free markets, complaining on internet forums
will not change a thing and I for one welcome the opportunity to expand
on the experience of a game that I like, whether I choose to buy it or not...
and it doesn't bother me because it always IS a choice

Oh no, needing that little origin icon in the task bar, what a terrible burden you must have.
Not so terrible as what it does. You do realize it scans your files and transmits data to EA, do you not?

Transmits what data? Do you actually know? How do you know it's not just checking for updates when it reports back?

I read that entire thread and whilst I agree it's kinda scary, no one really knows what is doing and as such are making up their own stories and hypothesis (95% of which will likely be wrong).
