[bf3blog] Battlefield 3 has “aggressive downloadable content plan” - Page 5

I would rather spend $15 once or twice a year than pay $60 once a year.

You guys say you hate the "one game a year" model, but then you also hate the DLC model. There are plenty of games out there that don't do any DLC. Support those games if you must, and keep your crying off of my battlefield.

All the Dragon Age DLC combined had a cost of $105. The Awakening expansion cost $40. That is $145 in addition to the price of the original Dragon Age game. Basically $200 for those that bought the game at launch.

Would you really be fine if BF3 adopts a Dragon Age type of DLC pricing plan? Many of the DLC's had very little content.

I'll wait and see, I have only bought one DLC offer and it sucked, so this will have to be CHEAP and GOOD for me to get it.

Why is this such a problem? Battlefield 3 is an amazing game, and the fact that we have more maps to look forward to is extremely exiting. Of course these packs will cost money, since when do people work for free?

I don't mind as long as they're quality expansions. Post-launch content isn't such a bad thing.

Since entitled gamers demand it!

you are "disgusted" that a game is releasing extra content that they are in absolutely no way obligated to do so? every great game has worthwhile expansions to extend the life of the product and keep it fresh. You expect everything to be free?

your reaction blows me away. how do you people feel so entitled?

Well you are welcome that you got a new engine and a massive multiplayer experience that is a leap in the future direction of games for less than the price of a yearly CoD rehash.

No, people buying expansions is not "the reason" why there is no free maps or mod tools.
A. There is free maps, you get back to Karkand which ALSO includes new weapons, and surely a new vehicle or two. That is 13 maps guaranteed with purchase. 13 maps that each have multiple game mode variations.
B. there is no mod tools because every graphical feature is licensed by DICE from a company that makes it. DICE did not develop this entire engine without some third party software. That is why it is as fantastic as it is.
And they do not have the right to give away that third party software. The fact that you haven't already learned and realized this shows how ignorant you are.
C. If the DLC costs 10-15 dollars each and there is SO much of it that it "doubles" the initial cost of the game then I couldn't be more elated to know that there will be that much new content coming out for this title.

what is wrong with you guys? Battlefield 2 had a ton of expansion packs and that was what made it so classic. We can all agree that CoD expansions are crap, and they all come out within 1 year of release date and cost 15$ each, but this is not the case. I think the problem is that you are so in fanboy love with Valve's DLC policy that you don't realize that a nerdy kid can practically develop a game on his own using thier primitive engine (that which they have exclusive rights to and CAN give it away.)
So much this, as long as DICE keeps releasing quality expansions I have no issue paying a reasonable amount for them. Every battlefield before this has had great expansions that really added to the game and were worth every penny.

Ah the beauty of capatilism. DICE is creating a product. Actual people are doing work creating a DLC or expansion pack. Therefore they deserve a return on the work they put into it. The great thing is, if you dont want to pay money for it, then dont buy it. If it is a product you want, then choose on you own free will and purchase it. Enough with the entitlement mentallity

Wake-up, now we're forced to buy these restrictive/limited DLCs.
Your argument has one flaw: Mod tools for previous battlefield games have been community made. DICE have not released mod tools.

Also this may come as a surprise but I'd much rather take DLC map packs than modded maps. With DLC I know what I'm getting, I know I'll find people to play with, I know the stuff is balanced and well tested etc. If I can have all that for a small fee, I'm not going to complain.

I will buy any and all expansions/add-ons/blah blah blah as soon as every little nuance of Origin/Battlelog support is dropped.
