A GT430 or GT440 isnt much (if any) of an upgrade from a GT240. Don't bother. I probably would want to go atleast to 6770 or GTX460.

if you play sc2 all the time and want maximum performance then you need a faster dual core.I recommend a dual core sandybridge.

when I upgraded from a 1090T to a i7 950 the difference was huge (sc2 only uses 2 cores btw)

for a video card I recommend a bare minumum of a gtx 460 768mb or a gtx 460 1gb/HD6850 if you want something slightly better. getting anything less would be a waste if you're worried about price : performance

Thanks for all the input guys, really appreciate it. Seems like everyone's telling me to just avoid the cheap cards and pony up for GTX460 or higher... What do you all think of this?

meh, costs as much as a gtx 460 but is slower:

Get a 460/560 (the 560 is just a higher clocked 460 from what I can gather)

OK, how do you feel about this 460 for $135 after MIR?

A 955 will not bottleneck the card, and a gtx 460 is a great card, much more powerful then either of the gpus I use so will be very future proof

Many thanks Cravin, it's over my budget but I guess it's better for the long run. Will hit you up with reps when I'm back tonight.

As an aside, how much power will this card need? I'm picking up a new psu too, will 550-600W be enough?

a QUALITY 400 watt is enough (however i'm certain a psu that came with a case is NOT quality)

I run the following setup on a 500 watt psu:
E6400 2.13 ghz oc'd to 3.2 ghz
Gigabyte P35-S3G
2x2 gig G.Skill PQ
EVGA GTX 260 core 216
OCZ Agility 30 gig SSD
WD AAKS 500 gig
Seagate 7200.10 320 gig
WD BEVT 500 gig 2.5"
Xclio 500 watt GreatPower (3 years old)

and the following setup on a 600 watt psu:
Q6600 2.4 ghz oc'd to 3.2 ghz
Asus P5b Deluxe wifi
2x2 gig G.Skill PQ + 2x1 gig g.skill pk
XFX 5770 1 gig
WD aaks 640 gig x 2 raid 0
Samsung F3 1 TB x 2
OCZ GamerXStream 600 watt (4 years old)

So as you can see 500 and 600 gig PSUs are powering alot of hardware.
