Rate My Audio/Video Production Rig ~ $1500

Not ordering this just yet, but was interested in getting some opinions.

Let me know what you think.

Note: I'd like to keep this build as silent as possible, which is why I didn't include any mechanical hard drives. When prices drop a little more I'd be adding a 2nd 256GB M4, but for now would be storing projects on the external.

Also, depending on how quiet the 6850 is, I may just downgrade the graphics card to a fanless one. Gaming isn't a priority for this build, and I don't believe movie editing will benefit too much from such a beefy card.

Opinions are welcome.

that's a pretty solid, as you said another ssd will suit you more. But for now this is an amazing rig, the 6850 is also very quiet, you can check different reviews for it.

Its good, but you can still save alot of money. That PSU is alot and you wont even need a 650w. You can get MUCH cheaper ram than that. If you shop around you can get a external drive for cheaper. But other than that its good. (Id recommend getting some quieter fans for the h60. Corsair fans suck IMO)

Thanks for letting me know, I was really debating to go with a fanless card or not.

Yeah, I figured 650W was a lot for the system, but I always like to have some headroom in that department. Although a 650TXM is cheaper and will do as good a job as the Seasonic, so I do agree with you there.

And I chose that ram because it runs at 1.35v - actually one of the cheaper kits at that voltage. I won't be overclocking the ram, so I'd like to keep the volts as low as possible. And the listing shows 2x(2x4G) kits for 16GB total. That's why it's $119.99. Each kit is only about $59.99.

Thanks for pointing that out about the external. Since I'm not planning to order just yet, I just added any decent 2TB I found. But I'll definitely follow your advice when it comes time to but.

And I had no idea about the Corsair fans. Thank you, that's something I will most definitely do.
