As far as hard drives go you could get one that will just get you by for a while and then when you have a little more, buy a second to get you to where you want to be. You could decide how much total you'll need, buy a drive half the size, then buy the second and put them in raid.

Also I would say that 1080p is most likely the max resolution on this tv.
I would say you'll want something better than the 6790. The 6850 is better, and at only $10 extra, I'd say its well worth it. An extra $50 will get you to a 6870.
