Yeah, 6970's should be fantastic. I would go with the Toxic 6950 though, they have a very high unlock rate and they are cheaper.

You could always look into Nvidia as well, but your only options there would be the GTX 480, which runs extremely hot in SLI and could overheat, or the GTX 580, which is more expensive than the 6970 but is faster. GTX 570's will bottleneck you in terms of Vram unless they have made a version with more Vram.

So yeah, go with 6950/6970 or GTX 480/570/580, but make sure it has 1.5GB+ Vram, but 2GB is recommended at your resolution.

The sapphire flex 6950, is cheaper and looks like it has the same specs.
