Yeah I'm hoping to have a friend laser cut some acrylic as a back plate to cover up the cutting biggrin.gif

Later today I should have time to set it up on Autocad ready to give to him to cut, I'll post up the designs later on today or tomorrow

Apologies for the huge gap between posting its been a crazy few months with uni coursework and exams. Over this time I have just been playing with ideas for the project and wanted to here what people thought.

Since starting the project I have came up with a decision on the hardware which will be roughly as follows once I have saved up enough biggrin.gif

  • 2 x OCZ 128GB Vertex 4 SSD
  • Intel Core i7 3770K
  • Asus P8Z77-M PRO
  • 4 x 4GB RAM undecided on brand yet
  • SLI 670 or Crossfire 7970 once again undecided
  • 2 x 2TB Hard disks

I'm now planning on water cooling the CPU and both GPU's as well, though for space reasons the rad will be located externally away from the case in a custom enclosure

Here's the promised CAD drawing of the backplate currently being water cut:

37.jpg

This is a idea I've been coming up with while playing in Sketchup. The top and bottom boxes will be curved and made from a single piece of 3mm aluminium with end ends made from thinner aluminium with the indented part being chromed perforated mesh to maintain some form of air flow. On the bottom box one outlet will be for the loop and the remaining two are for a shut off value.

The reason for the slightly different layout in tubing around the GPU's will be relieved in time thumb.gif

I start work again in two weeks so I can start buying materials and the project can finally get under way biggrin.gif

Subbed biggrin.gif I love the Mac Pro case but I don't like the Mac Pro price. I want to mod a Mac Pro case to do pretty much what you're doing (except the WC) I can never find a Mac Pro case for what I want to pay frown.gif Even spares and repairs.
