Yeah, it's not like MS is standing on the shoulders of others.

MS is scared that it is losing the mobile market and that the desktop market is failing, thus MS starts flexing its (to me unethical) patents to get rid of the competition the only way it knows how: sue, sue, sue.

Notice that the MS lawyers were a trifle shy about mentioning exactly what was "stolen". The more likely story is that the companies which signed licensing agreements did so because paying off patent trolls is cheaper than paying lawyers.

Windows phone 7. It's the most recent major smartphone OS. They've had other ones before, but nobody liked them.

Oh, I am fully aware that they actually have mobile devices. I said notable. WP7 is rather insignificant at this point.

i find it funny that companies like MS and Apple go after Samsung, HTC and others will not go after Google who they claim is infringing on there patents lol.
