DVI-VGA converter question

Thread Starter
I currently have a Samsung Syncmaster 2230 22 inch monitor. It has good reviews but mine only has a VGA outbut. No DVI.

I know i can get a dvi to vga converter and use this monitor, but would I loose any image quality? I am gaming in 1080p by the way.

One more thing. Currently my PC is hooked up to my Samsung 8 Series 3Dtv.

However I dislike gaming on my TV because i cant concantrate on playing as I can concentrate on a desktop monitor.

Any feedback is welcome.

What would you do in this situation?

Cheers.

You wont be losing quality over not having a display...

It's a subtle difference, but there definitely is one if you compare both side-by-side. But it's not like vga looks total crap or anything, you should still be very happy w/the image quality if it's a good monitor otherwise. I'm the same way, I much prefer gaming 'up close' on a proper PC monitor. Like you, it helps my concentration, but I also like that it looks FAR better due to much higher pixel density.

By the way, your monitor has an input, not an output

Thanks god the monitor is a good one. Its at work and I rarely use it as my 17inch FULL HD asus gaming laptop has a good monitor.

So i will brink this Samsung tomorrow from work.

The thing is i will get a 3D monitor sometime in the future but probably not before 2*3 months. So I am glad this monitor will be very good for me for a while.

And yes gaming on a big screen is really not my style. It was good in PS3 perhaps but in PC gaming i rather be on a desk with a maksimum of 24-25 inch screen and play just fine.

Keep the VGA cable as short as possible and because it's analogue, make sure it's a decent lead.

The image quality won't be DVI quality, but as stated above, it's better than no image

I got the converter and hooked my 570 to my 22 inch VGA monitor.

I honestly feel its very well. I am sure the colors might be a bit more vivid in DVI output but the VGA output is very well as well.

But i will save up for the Asus 23 inch 3D monitor anyhow.

The Samsung B2230 will do it for me very well in the time being.
