Custom Bench Table for Water Cooling – Input

Thread Starter
My first thread on your great forum, so hope im not doing something wrong . (And its in the right place)

Im planning a Bench Table when Ivy Bridge is coming, but need some input.

How would your perfect bench table for watercooling look like ? - I just love things thats look clean and simple :-)

Here is the starting point, does it look completely wrong ?

1 Layer: Radiator, Pumps, Fans (Mayby Res)
2: Layer: PSU, Fan Controller, Harddrive
3: Layer: Motherboard, GFX, Memory ….

Size: 425x425 mm – 8mm Acrylic (Mayby Frosted?)
150mm spacing between the layers

Hardware List:
2x EK 360mm (6x 120mm fans)
2x 120mm Fans (Front, bottom) – Should be 80mm, but haven’t had the time to change the size
2x DDC 18W Pumps
1x DVD
1x NZXT Mix fancontroller
2x 3,5" HDD (1x 120mm fan in front)
1x Corsair 1200W (Black box, middle)
1x ATX Motherboard

Flow (Old version)

Hope you understand my bad english ... And thank for a great forum

Regards
Henrik Kristensen

Theres is no reservoir mounts or holder for cilindic res, I would put the res on the secound layer for easy bleading.
The top fans over the board could interfere with big heatsinks but you're using watercooling so theres no problem.

Might be a little worried about stability. I recently built something similar, used 6mm acrylic and aluminium supports. I don't think the acrylic would be able to support weight like that. Dimensions are 610 x 455.

Will ad mounting for Res (Thinking about EK - Multioption RES X2 - 150) today or tomorrow. The top fans is for cooling memory, VREG etc, so noo worries about big heatsink in this build

I might go with 10mm acrylic, but dont think that I need to go that high right now. Thinking about adding a 5 support columm in the middle of it all.

Looks nice. Can't really see any problems with the design, so just as long as you can also build it, it should be a really nice project. Maybe we could get a worklog from you?

I also did something similar, though still quite different. Link to worklog is in my sig.

Might give you some ideas.

GL with your project!

Thanks - Dont have the money right now for the system (Study), but if I am building it, there will be a worklog

Really nice build you got there, will look at it closer later today.

The plans for right now

- Add mounting for Res
- Change 2 Front fans (bottom) to 2x 80mm
- Remove 3 fans on each Rad (Not Push/Pull then)

This will make it possible to make it at least 50mm smaller, and a lot easier to work with on a desk.

Does this sound wrong ?

Mounting system for the res sounds good.

If what you want is to make it smaller, then yeah those changes would probably work pretty well and you wouldn't be compromising too much of the cooling or functionality. But personally, if you have enough space on your desk, I would go ahead with the original design. I've come to find that with custom rigs you will want to upgrade and usually those upgrades will take more space than your previous stuff, and because of this you'll move on to bigger and bigger cases, but that's just me.
