Pavilion ze4500 repair issues (PCIMCIA not detected at startup)

As the title summarizes, I'm repairing an HP laptop. Most of the issues have been fixed, Internet wasn't working and now that's no longer a problem, but the laptop uses a PCIMCIA WLAN card (D-LINK WNA2330 Rangebooster G). Every time the laptop boots into Windows, the card is not detecte and has to be ejected and reconnected to work.

Can anyone explain why this happens and probably suggest how to fix this? Drivers are correctly installed as far as I can tell.

Probably some sort of bug. Have you tried re-installing Windows?

Haven't tried reinstalling Windows, and I'm not sure the client is willing to pay for that kind of diagnosis. To the best of my searches people who had the same problem with different laptops and WLAN cards didn't solve their issues after reinstalling.
