$8,000 build - input, please! - Page 4

your msi 580s are top of the line one of the best 580s on market right now, and they will beat out any 590s in sli so dont go that route. the asus mars ii could be something interesting to look at with your budget, if you wanted it to look cool sacrifice a little performance for a work of art in your case.

that rat7 mouse is not good at all, i'd look at the G700, razer mamba etc.

motherboard, doesn't look like you will need all those pci slots can probably go with a maximus or evga board for tri sli.

oh and cooling? - water cooling, get it. drop that h100.

*Sees $8,000 price tag*

*Sees cart only from Newegg and specs*

*Leaves disappointed*

There's not even a custom water loop. rusrs?

This should be more like...$3000 pc and a nice home audio room on the side. -__-

They're pretty cheap (I believe they go on sale for $50) and perform very well. I would also recommend you switch the 3x MSI GTX 580's for 3x EVGA GTX 580 DS's, like these http://www.evga.com/products/moreInf...s%20Family&sw= . Everything else looks awesome though! Good luck!
Just to show how advice differs even within the forum, I just got told that hdd's are too expensive and because of that SSD's are a good choice. The Thialand flood is only jacking the price up on some models by 20%,not the end of the world.

Razer's numerous amount of LEDs will ruin a little bit of the immersion. The Azio also has a bunch of neat-o features, and a better build quality.

I have heard bad things about Polk Subs from users on the forum. alot of people recommend Dayton and BIC subs, so look further. whats all the 3D junk for?

also, you are buying a TOSlink Optical digital cable.. why would you buy a Xonar ST if you are running digital?

If you are going to spend $8K on a PC you might as well get Windows 7 Ultimate

2. No, just no.
3. Thats not such a bad idea.

I don't see why he's going with projectors for displays. He could get better RAM and maybe 32GBs of it.
1. I'm fantastic with computers, but the computer would be located in a completely different country where I wouldn't trust the people maintaining it physically with dealing with BSODs.

Watercooling would be too complex for the people whom this computer would belong to. It's like giving a Lamborghini to an 8 year old on a scooter.

Please read the OP. I can't take the chance of the owners spilling water all over the place.

I'll look into those subs.

I'm an audio newbie, what would you recommend?

3D is for immersion. It's not for gaming, it's a simulation for your "typical end-users" where 3D = better.

I agree -- Comparing my specs to his... and the 8000$ total. It's just going to be a HUGE soundscape that's for sure.

Not bashing, just saying.

Most of the money is going into the speakers and projector. So you're actually looking at about a 5.5k box people. Still ridiculous, but oh well.

That being said, a Crucial M4 128gb SSD is almost as good as that Intel, you would be better served by going for a cheaper motherboard because that motherboard isn't going to offer 16x/16x/16x performance anyways and it would basically take your 3rd GPUs scaling down by 20+%.

I would consider going single GPU if your client doesn't want to deal with issues. SLI, CFX and dual-GPU cards all have issues in certain circumstances and are often a "tweak settings and change drivers until it works" kind of setup, not a "plug it in and lets go". Something to consider- many forum users here will say "I've never had issues!" but for everyone of them there is someone else who'll tell you that they couldn't get x-game running because it wouldn't recognize SLI.

3840x720 is no big deal anyways for a single 580.
