hey guys, building this for a friend, I think I got it down to a very decent price (pricematch ftw) but I'd like your input if you guys believe I could change some parts.. I'm not too sure in the mobo and ram departments.. This is what he asked me

Quote:
i have a super small room. my queen bed and desk take up pretty everything (as in there is no room for a chair) this is why i have my laptop. i just keep it on my bed or whatever. is is also why i talked about the mac mini i would have a gotten a nice screen for my desk and wireless keyboard and mouse. anyhow. i pretty want to have a decent all around system. i watch a lot of movies, surf the net, video intensive/picture intensive sites. and honestly i really want to be able to play starcraft 2 on max setting flawlessly.

he seems comfortable in the 1500$ price range.. Canadian dollars

here's what I got for now

According to the ''psu calculator'' in the psu section here at ocn, it seems I could go with a 430w psu which could lower a bit the price, I mentionned that to him and waiting for a reply. I went with a 500w in case he wants to upgrade.

I looked at the case width and figured I had enough space for the noctua cooler..

thanks for your help/time guys!

cheers!

Better gpu, if you get a 560 you want a TI version

Make sure the cooler fits as well, lots of micro cases won't accommodate a full size tower cpu cooler.

allright, I'll hunt for a 560 Ti!

yeah about the cpu cooler that's my main concern.. I saw one ''low profile'' made by scythe I think. but in the comments someone said it had some issues cooling an i5.. this one at least the fins are place vertically (when in the case) instead of horizontally.. saves some space..

Case size (WxHxD): 175x355x420mm with front and top bezel in place

and noctua Height (with fan) 114 mm

I changed the gpu with a 560 Ti..

the ram is in the qvl of the mobo.. it should work but is it the most appropriate choice for the price and all?

mobo's fine I suppose too?
