Need a new AMD CPU!

Thread Starter
Hello

AMD FX-6100 141 €
AMD FX-8120 177 €
AMD PHENOM II X6 1100T 168 €
AMD PHENOM II X6 1090T 150 €

Help me out. What should I get?
The FX 6100 price is tempting but is it ok for gaming? I'm just looking for a nice chip for overclocking and gaming. I'm probably spending most of the time in BF3 and FX chips are doing great there.

For gaming AMD Phenom II x4 9XX (ALL 9 SERIES PHENOMS WORKS SAME IN GAMES, MOST OF THEM REACHES 4GHz WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM).

Of course it's fine for gaming. Unless you're pushing some insane SLI setup, any of those processors will do just fine. The new FX series overclock well too. Personally I'd go with the cheapest option. They're all more than adequate.

I'd say 1090T, BF3 is nicely multithreaded and they seem to overclock pretty well.
A PhII X4 is good too but I would buy the 955 and overclock it a bit. No other difference except price between the 980 and the 955.
But I'd really go the extra mile and get a six-core now.

EDIT: same story with the 1100T and 1090T, the 1100 is clocked 100Mhz higher which isn't worth the extra cost at all (and can be done in 5 secs on the 1090 via multiplier)

I'd keep the 955 for now.

Well mine doesn't go over 3,8 and I'm selling it. Not going to get another Phenom II X4.

I would like to get a FX chip just because it's new tech and propably will be still an upgrade from my Phenom II.

Only upgrade you'll see is with Intel. Or with a 1100+
