Yeah, that's definitely a problem. Try reseating as others have mentioned. Even the stock cooler wouldn't idle that high.

I have an H80 and I don't even idle that high at 5GHz.

stupid question, but is the pump connected too?

As everyone has said, reseat it.. though...

While you're reseating, visually check that no capacitors are hitting the CPU block. Some boards have that problem and you will simply never get good temps if caps are in the way :\\

Are you sure you removed the plastic packaging from the bottom of the heatsink (if it came with a piece applied)?

Sounds stupid but people forget to remove it pretty often.

You should use the TM paste that corsair provides. It is extremely high quality and far better than 99% of whats out there. Be sure to remove the plastic off the bottom so that it makes contact with the CPU.

That said, if you seated it improperly (which it sounds like is very likely) that TM paste isn't any good now. The unit is either defective or not seated properly.

Had same problem with ASUS P5Q-E. Had to change the position of the block with to tunes facing up. The block is probably being blocked by something and not making contact in all sides.

well i lifted it off and the thermal paste was only smudged onto the cpu on a 1/3 of the processor, while the remaing was untouched, so i set it back down and tightend the side that there wasnt any tim smudging as much as i could... boot up still same issue.... so hmmm pic in a sec
