[Kotaku] MW3 Guns get better with use - Page 12

I'm surprised so many people like this idea. Isn't it better if you (the player) learn to use a weapon better rather than have the game do it for you just because you've been playing with a certain gun for a while.

I don't see the appeal personally

The difference is that, we know how perks work. We don't know how proficiencies work. If you played MW2, you are NOT GIVEN a basic set of perks. You have to level up to get the perks, unlike Black Ops, which is nothing compared to MW2. So this basically means that, if you need to unlock danger close at level 45, but you are only level 1, you need to figure out a way to kill the guy noob tubing you. When there is a will, there is always a way. The same goes with weapon proficiencies. You see a guy with an AK47 with reduced recoil, find a way to get him, until you can get your AK47 reduced recoil as well, to "level the playing field", if you want.

Regarding the sights, yes, you argue that you don't or rarely use sights. If you argue that way, the same can be said about weapon proficiencies. I can feel that the weapon recoil proficiency is insignificant to my style of play and i prefer to perhaps, pick the 'faster draw time' proficiency if any.

In a nutshell, unlocking weapon attachments, perks and proficiencies are all the same thing because you need to level up whatever applicable to unlock them. Eg: Weapon attachments: kills with weapon, perks: kills/objectives/stuff you do with the perks and proficiencies: kills with weapons/stuff you do with it, i dont know.
No, you did get default perks, not all the perks, but you got some, of that I am pretty damn sure.

The difference with proficiency is that, all of them have an advantage over not using them, whereas RDS is not necessarily better than iron sighting etc.

You don't get ahead in that game by becoming some pro quick-scoping sniper from hell, or the craziest, most agressive and deadly run and gunner, flanking your enemy at the best opportunity. You get ahead by wastefully firing noob tubes, RPGs and throwing grenades. It's pathetic.
You have been mistaken. BF2 is the REAL and TRUE first person grenade spammer game thingy thing. You start with 4 grenades with a throw range of that of the incredible hulk and an explosion radius of 4 toyota priuses, couple that with a support dude spamming his ammo bag in Karkand.

Now that is what i call grenade spamming FPS action.

It's inevitable for new modern shootrs to come out and to be honest there are not many good moern shooters so that's why the modern warfare series fills that slot. I bet more than half of you calling it noobfare would get their ass handed to them in any semi competetive cod game.

You're right about that.

The alleyway in Grand Baazar is an RPG/SMAW fest, also. The dude with the tube'll have like 6 ammo bags at his feet.

But to each their own. I don't play games to impress people with my tactical skill; I play them to laugh and to irritate guys (team killing/non-stop tubing) who think they are going to tell me how to play.

Pretty neat. But they're really taking away from the simplicity that makes CoD what it is. I hope this doesn't get in the way, because the more they add the easier the game will be to tilt off balance and have the whole 'one gun' issue like Black Ops with the FAMAS.

As much as this sounds elitist, it's probably true, but it's not the reason why people don't buy CoD. It's a reason why 'other' people buy it to completely hammer a bunch of scrubby dubbies, but alot of people don't like arcade style point-based shooters and prefer something more thought out. Unfortunately, at least in my opinion which is based on most reviews over the past week or so, BF3 is slowly flopping due to people not liking the whole structure of the game, first they take it away from steam, then there's no server browser, then the server browser is basically an online store which is filled with servers:

It's also full of useless "explanation pages" that seem to exist only to tell you how great Battlelog is and need to be manually clicked through each time they're accidentally opened (which is easy to do, since the veritable army of links on every page can take you to all sorts of unforeseen places). Fortunately, there's a prominant banner for the Battlefield shop on the main page, so if you don't know how to send friend requests or set up voice chat, you can at least go buy yourself a T-shirt!

The Battlelog is a crucial, unavoidable part of the Battlefield 3 experience and it does nothing but get in the way. It's a weird, proprietary attempt to turn a videogame into Facebook and it's so forcefully imposed on the player that it chokes everything else. Once in a game, everything's okay, but the overall experience is constantly hampered by this awkward, shoehorned "service" that nobody asked for.

Ultimately, I don't think this matters. There will always be features in any game that some players feel are unbalanced. If the developer tries to address the issues with a patch, then it skews the game play in a different direction. This perhaps satisfies the first group of complainants, but usually at the expense of another segment of players. You can't please all of the people all of the time. Adapt and overcome.

People are stupid sadly. Just look at all the people getting hacked in WoW and/or their email accounts lol. Even identities getting stolen is their fault most of the time.

But yea.. if you want a game that encourages teamplay, that's what battlefield 3 is for! COD will never encourage it since it would ruin the formula that millions have been conditioned to like.

Let's give an unfair advantage to the people that should already be better than you (because they've played more).

Good thinking. Way to alienate casual gamers.
