Corsair 800D Power Light & HD LED Change?

Thread Starter
Does anyone know how hard it would be to change the power led & hd led's on the 800D case?I would like to change them to blue led's.

Has anyone ever done this mod to this case?

Prolly just have to break out the soldering iron and remove the old ones with the appropriately sized blue ones.

A heads up, different color led's will use different voltages. Likely, you have a power source below the 4.5 volts used by most blue led's. Try connecting everything, but it is likely there won't be enough voltage to light the led up very much. You can always go back and bring in another voltage and use the original power to control the new voltage with a transistor or something.

^This might help you figure out what voltage you need (and misc. other wiring info with led's).

I could use a DVM to check the voltages.

Blue LED's do not have a 4.5V threshold, not sure where you got that info. Most LED's run from 1.5-3.3V which is why you need limiting resistors in a circuit with more voltage than that.

For this use, you dont need to worry about LED type or color because it will light up fine. As for how to get to them and what you need to do, check out CJ's worklog that CyberDruid is doing. All you need to know about an 800D is on there.
