Did the PSU blow? - Page 3

Right you are, my friends. Blown MOSFET, ain't she a beauty:

(4th one down)

I wonder if it blew from overvoltage, or heat problems? I removed the tall VRM heatsink to fit my rad in btw, so that could be the cause of death.

Taking that heat sink off is probably the culprit. I know they are made to withstand a ton of heat, but no sink and a healthy over volt to 1.4 doesn't sound fun to be a VRM. Maybe your PSU is still good?

It is, I tested it. The mobo is gonna cost me a hefty 200 bucks outta my wallet though.

Ok guys, another update.

I replaced the board with a new one. However, when I turn it on, the computer runs, but nothing shows on the screen. No beeps, no POST. Does this mean that the CPU is dead too? Does the computer need the CPU to POST, or does something else perform the POST?

I'm pretty sure it's the CPU. I took out the RAM sticks, powered it on, no beeping. Guess my CPU and mobo died together...
