What can I do with my PS2?

Thread Starter
I've just started playing San Andreas on my PS2 again for fun. It's the original fat PS2, is there any cool mods I can do to it? I have some extra HDDs laying around but I don't really want to buy a mod chip or anything.

I also have an original Xbox with a mod chip in it but it's PSU is bad.

Paint it? That's what I did.

I took it apart and looked inside.

Just buy swap magic* if you want to use homebrew software. You can also do some case mods or add a hard drive and play around with it. There are lots of things you can do with a old phat PS2. Just google.

*I am not endorsing the fact that swap magic can play "backup games" and should do any illegal things. Homebrew is just software you can run off your ps2 for fun. ex. Media Player or HDD software for cheats and whatnot. Any illegal action taken by the OP I am not responsible for.

lol, i just modded my slim ps2 today.

go online and lookup how to make a slide tool, this allows you to swap games without the ps2 knowing. Now, go on google and lookup how to install Free MC Boot, which always you to run homebrew from the default ps2 screen(OSDSYS). i use mine as a media player using SMS.

if you have 007 agent under fire, 007 nightfire, swap magic, codebreaker, gameshark v1.3+ or action replay, you can install free mc boot, the official website has like 10 tutorials to install Free MC Boot

website: http://freemcboot.info/
method i used: http://freemcboot.info/swap.html NOTE: at the bottom, games in green work for swap method

EDIT: if you don't have any of the above mentioned things, buy 007 agent underfire, i got mine for $7 from ebay, better than paying 30+ for the other methods

EDIT: yep another one, if you want play backups from network or hdd,use openps2loader. also PM if you need any help,i got lots of info

Maybe I'll pick up a mod chip if I can get one cheap. What do I need to put games on the HDD?
