Network Connections question

Thread Starter
i notice that in my notebook's network settings, there are 3 network connections:

-Local Area Connection (Atheros PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller)
-Wireless Network Connection (Atheros Wireless Network Adapter)
-Wireless Network Connection 2 (Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter)

now, i set up my router to include a wireless filter to include only certain MAC addresses. my kindle has a single MAC address and i put it in.

my windows 7 notebook though, has 3 mac addresses when i put "ipconfig/all" into command prompt. each one of those network connections (or whatever they are called) have a mac address.

i just want for my laptop to hook up to my router's wifi, which of those mac addresses do i put into the filter?

i just put the wireless atheros one, and the internet works. however, do i have to put in the other ones too? what is the microsoft virtual wifi miniport thing for?

Just that one.

Looks like it is just part of the driver pack to facilitate ad-hoc functionality.
Also keep in mind that having only a MAC filter as your sole form of wifi security may not be secure.
