yate loon 140mm + noise question w. controller

Thread Starter

Hey guys,

I am planning on ordering some fans for my CM 690 II, 2 for the top(exhaust) and 1 for the front(intake).

I am planning on using this controller:

Right now I am looking at these 140MM Yate Loon's http://www.petrastechshop.com/14yalod1cafa1.html

One of my main goals is the absolutely make sure my sig rig is cool (will be getting a 560ti or 570 in future also so please take that into account)
However, I have a few questions:

1.) I don't want a lot of noise, will the Yate's be very loud/will my fan controller take care of this if i lower their speed?

2.) Would I be better off with the 1400 rpm or the 1000 rpm? Exactly how loud should I expect each to be at full blast? Anyone with experience with these fans please chime in on experience, very much appreciated

Also, if you have any suggestions for a better build, please feel free.

I am primarily looking for a good price, but also VERY low noise level is key.

Thanks!
WN

If you are Ok with running an adapter aero cool makes 120mm "shark" fans with 15 blades that are rated at 26 db (~3db less) and 82CFM (18CFM more) compared to those yate loons. or if you really want quiet CM R4 140mms are rated at 16db and 60.9CFM. The Fan controller should work just bare in mind that some fan controllers (PWM based) can cause extra noise due to vibrations in the stator and rotor caused by the rapid pulsing of the power in.
