Hey, i was wondering if there was any real difference in performance/reliability/features/whatever else between having it in IDE and ACHI mode i currently have mine in IDE and want to know if its worth the reinstall of windows to put it into ACHI mode

TRIM is enabled on AHCI and disabled on IDE.

It is worth the reinstall. I mean you spent so much money on a Vertex 3, and you dont wanna get all the performance you can get out of it?

You will see an improvement in speed.

Nope, untrue. Really with an SSD it doesn't make a whole lot of difference. AHCI specification wasn't designed with SSDs in mind, it has NCQ which is great for physical HDDs though.

Now if you plan to hotswap drives... you need AHCI, otherwise don't worry about it too much.
