SLI.GTX470 [2048x1536] Scaling [Bf3]

Thread Starter
In the Nvidia Control Panel there is an option for Scaling

Select a Scaling Model:
Aspect ratio
Full-Screen
No Scaling

ATM, I have Aspect Ratio selected

Perform scaling on:
Display
GPU

I have Display Selected

There is also an option to Override the scaling mode set by games and programs.

This is currently unchecked, any suggestions for BF3?

Preview----------

Resolution
2048x1536(current)
75Hz Refresh rate
Native resolution:
1600x1200

I know the recommended settings for my CRT is 1600x1200@85Hz.

What options should I chose, and what resolution is recommended?
I'm not sure if I should have the scaling for CRT or GPU. Not even sure about the scaling mode.

In addition, should I have PhysX enabled on my GPU or CPU or autoselect?

Keep in mind these suggestions are for Battlefield 3! Thanks in advance, I appreciate your time spent here.

What I did with my 480 sli is do the settings "let the application decide" and then go to options and disable triple buffer, put to single display performance, and apply. Native resolution is always best, that it intended resolution to work on. PhsX should be on gpu.

Thanks for your response! I have a few more questions in mind:

What is Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias, because I have it on "Allow?"

What should I put CUDA - GPUs? (Off atm)

Texture Filtering - Quality?

Texture Filtering - Trilinear optimization - On?

I know it's going to sound odd, you know EVGA has their own equivalent of CAPS? When I was SLI they worked much better than Nvidias offerings, give em a try.

Not sure what CAPS is :X

Sorry, and I still need a recommendation on a SLI hack for my motherboard.

I remember the sticky had like five to chose from -_-

I leave everything in NVCP (global) set to defaults, personally. The only thing I ever 'force' through the driver is vsync or AA on specific game profiles.

AFA scaling goes, as long as you're running games at native res, the scaling options don't do anything. However, I always put my scaling options at "No Scaling", and I put my monitor at 1:1 mode as well. Personally, I'd rather have any sub-native resolution images show up smaller on my screen rather than be 'scaled' (i.e. stretched) to fill up the whole screen. I think scaling looks like crap no matter which way you do it (via card or monitor), so I leave it all turned off.

Also, how do I check if I'm running in SLI mode?

My MSI after burner shows two of them, and I get almost double the FPS in BF3.. but I would like to check. I mean even my SLI hack says it's working, but is there a way to check in the NVIDIA control panel?

Monitors have their own scaling options, I dunno how to do it your particular monitor, but it's through pressing the buttons on the front. There's gonna be a scaling mode available that basically means 'no scaling', but it's sometimes hard to find it ... it's not really *that* important anyways tbh, I'm just telling you what I like to do with my setup.

The way you tell SLI is working is checking the graphs in Afterburner or Precision, after you run a game (or you can activate the on-screen display feature of either app and see stats in real-time while gaming ... a feature I highly recommend using), check to see what your Temps, GPU Usage, clocks, etc, are on each card. You should see both cards clock up to 3d clocks, both get hot, both have very similar GPU usage patterns, etc.

The fact that your FPS goes way up ... that's another good indicator

Also, next time, please use the Edit button on your previous post rather than double-posting if yours is the last on the thread and it's very recent like in this case.

The man in my avatar is Al Davis. He owned the Oakland Raiders NFL Football team (being from LA you may have heard of them ) from 1967 until his death a few weeks back. We're sad in Oaktown over Al's passing ...
