Yep, they can last a while. Even for guys like me who apply paste to a new CPU almost every month.

I just bought some a week ago. Applied it yesterday. Not getting any better in fact worse temps then mx-2. It says the break in period is 200 hours of computer use. What kind of temp drops can I expect right now ibt is 54 idle is 31.

You can expect it to be around the same as the MX-2. To be honest, you can really pick most reputable thermal compounds out of a hat, and expect the one you pick to be the best one, since they all perform the bloody same, with maybe like a 0.5C difference at most, which isn't even statistically significant with most testing setups, given applications and ambient temperature variance etc.

Pick anything from this chart, you'll be fine: http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.ph...&limitstart=12 (note that it includes the MX-2 and AS5)

I read a more updated article before purchasing. Guess we'll see if the break in time helps.

Was just about to post this. I wonder why the price of AS5 went up though.

I remember buying it at SVC for $5 shipped.
